From Lynchburg Police: On October 27, 2016, the Lynchburg Police Department responded to a home invasion / robbery on ‘C’ Street in the City of Lynchburg. Three subjects entered a residence and held the homeowner at gunpoint. He was violently assaulted and then multiple items were stolen. He was tied up before the suspects left. The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) began a month long investigation. With the assistance of the Field Operations Bureau and citizens in that area, several suspects were developed. On November 18th, Suntrese R. Wheeler (age 29) of Lynchburg was arrested. On November 21st, Derrick L. Campbell (age 36) of Lynchburg was arrested. On November 30th, Jason J. Berkley (age 30) of Pamplin was arrested by the U.S. Marshals and Lynchburg Police in Amherst, Virginia. The U.S. Marshals Service from Lynchburg, Charlottesville and Roanoke were instrumental in the capture of Berkley. All three suspects were charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Burglary, Robbery, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (2 counts) and Kidnapping. All three suspects are being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Lynchburg without bond.
