Cleveland Kilgore

From Amherst County Sheriff’s Office: On 04/28/2016 Amherst County Sheriff’s Office responded to three complaints in a five hour period related to counterfeit money. The second complaint, received at 3:58 pm, led to deputies making contact with Cleveland Winston Kilgore, 23, of Maryland. Kilgore attempted to pass a counterfeit $20 bill at the Marathon Gas Station at 4664 S. Amherst Highway in Madison Heights, but left when the observant clerk refused to accept the bill. Upon leaving the store deputies spotted Kilgore walking in the area of Woodvue Dr. and he fled on foot. After a brief pursuit Kilgore was taken into custody. He is charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possessing Counterfeit Money, and Uttering Counterfeit Money. Kilgore was transported to the Amherst Adult Detention Center where he is being held on a $2000 secured bond.

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the other incidents to determine their relation to each other. In the initial incident a counterfeit $50 bill was given at the Madison Heights Wendy’s drive thru by a black female driving a green older model Ford Taurus. The other incident at CVS Madison Heights involved 2 black males. 1 dressed in all black, and the other with a white/black letter jacket bearing a “C” and khakis. They passed counterfeit $20 bills at that location. If you have any information regarding these incidents please call the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office at 434-946-9300 or Central Virginia Crime Stoppers.
