In order to honor contributions made by African-Americans, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lynchburg has partnered with U.S Cellular to host a Black History Month Art Contest. In January, club members researched African-American role models and their contributions to society to create and submitted original portraits representing the figure of their choice using any art medium from any point in history, including present day. The top 10 finalists’ entries, chosen by a panel from the Boys & Girls Club, are now displayed at local U.S. Cellular stores, where the public is invited to view and vote on the artwork until February 28.
