Following a public hearing on Wednesday, The Region 2000 Services Authority approved a 75 cent increase to tipping fees at the landfill. The News & Advance reports, the vote was coupled in a motion to approve the authority’s budget. Operating expenses are expected to increase to $6.2 million, a 2.5 percent increase from the current budget; but also projects more than $7.1 million in revenue, which is a 2.6 percent increase from the current fiscal year. A portion of the revenue is proportionately split among Campbell County and Lynchburg based on their contributions to the landfill.
