Train Depot Project Is on Track for Second Phase

Phase two of a three phase rehabilitation project on the Amherst Train Depot is slated to begin soon. The Amherst County Board of Supervisors last month authorized the County Administrator to sign the construction contract and proceed. Phase one of the projects, involved the depot’s relocation from its former site at Depot Street to U.S. 60 and stabilization of the structure. The second phase of the project will involve completing the depot’s exterior and driveway and the installation of utilities. Phase three will include renovating the interior of the depot.
