A bill that would require written assurance to training-center residents who move into community-based housing was delayed Tuesday in a Senate committee. The bill sponsored by Sen. Steve Newman, had been amended since Monday with a goal of defining how much it could cost the state to keep open one or more training centers set to close. According to media outlets, the chairman of the Finance subcommittee said it needed more amendments to nail down its potential cost. A decision probably will need to be made this week under a deadline for approving Senate bills.
