The trial of Randy Taylor began yesterday with 24 of the roughly 80 residents called in, qualifying by the court to serve; attorneys went through a strike list to mutually arrive at the 12 jurors and two alternates selected. 48 year old Taylor pleaded not guilty on Thursday to all charges related to the disappearance and suspected murder of17-year-old Alexis Murphy. The Nelson county teenager’s body has not been found. The first witness in presenting the prosecution’s evidence is slated at 9:30 this morning.

The trial is underway for the man charged with abducting and killing 17-year-old Alexis Murphy last August. After hours of extensive questioning of about 80 prospective jurors, a jury of 14 Nelson County residents — including two alternates — was seated Thursday. Both the commonwealth and the defense asked that a jury trial be held for 48-year-old Randy Taylor. Opening statements are set to begin at 9:30 a.m. today. Taylor has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
