From the Campbell County Shieriff’s Office: On July 16, 2014 at 10:11 pm, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office responded to 50 Lisa Ann Lane, Evington, regarding an assault with severe injuries. Once on the scene, sheriff’s deputies found Valerie Harris, 46, of the residence suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper body. Harris was partially responsive upon their arrival but passed away at Lynchburg General Hospital. The investigation revealed that Harris had been involved in a physical altercation with Debra Fay Crews-Newman, 46, of Gough Road, Rustburg, and Glenn Conway Farmer, 54, also of Gough Road, Rustburg. Crews-Newman and Farmer were part of a social gathering that was taking place at 50 Lisa Ann Lane when the incident took place.

Crews-Newman and Farmer had left the scene before deputies arrived but were later located in the city of Lynchburg by Lynchburg Police Officers. Crews-Newman was arrested and charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of Harris. Farmer was arrested and charged with assault and battery on Harris, and with aiding and assisting Crews knowing she had committed a completed felony. Both are being held in the Campbell County Adult Detention Center without bond.
