Appomattox and Campbell county officials have planned public hearings this week regarding proposed stormwater ordinances. Each locality in Virginia is required to create an ordinance as part of the state-mandated stormwater management program, slated to begin this summer. The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality will oversee the program along with erosion and sediment control laws already in place. All localities are required to adopt a fee structure and ordinance by May 15 so they can be approved by the state and implemented on July 1.Appomattox will host a public hearing on the matter tonight at 7pm. Campbell County will hold a public hearing tomorrow at 5:30pm.
