Two area health providers will be able to expand behavioral health services through an Affordable Care Act grant. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services announced earlier this month, that Johnson Health Center and Blue Ridge Medical Center will be awarded $250.000 to establish or expand mental health and substance abuse treatment services. The money will be used to provide additional counseling personnel; psychiatrist and behavioral health specialist, to focus on substance abuse treatment and psychiatric and pain management services. According to the New Era Progress, there is an increased need for pediatric behavioral health services for children.
