UPDATE: Lynchburg Police say a 16-year-old boy is facing charges after two people were shot yesterday at Younger Park in Lynchburg. The victims are 19-year-old Tyrik Barbour and a 16-year-old boy, both of Lynchburg. Officials say they are both in stable condition.
Two people were shot today at Younger Park in Lynchburg, and police tell us they hope to make a quick arrest. Sources tell us one of the victims gave them the shooter’s name, but we have no confirmation yet from city police. The shootings rattled some park neighbors like Justin Peters, who lives right across the street from Younger Park and spoke with reporter Andre Whitehead:

UPDATE: On 4/14/2016, at approximately 6:12 PM, a 16-year-old male from Lynchburg was taken into custody for the aforementioned Malicious Wounding. He was charged with Malicious Wounding and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. It was determined that both victims were shot in relation to this incident. The victim, who was transported to the Lynchburg General Hospital from Younger Park, is 19-yearold Tyrik E. Barbour of Lynchburg. The second victim is a 16-year-old male, also of Lynchburg. Both victims are currently in stable condition. The incident is still under investigation.
On 4/14/2016 at approximately 12:41 PM, Officers with the Lynchburg Police Department responded to a report of a malicious wounding in the area of Younger Park (2338 Light Street). Officers located a victim near the basketball courts with a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Lynchburg General where he is being treated for his injuries. A second gunshot victim was transported by private party to Lynchburg General. The second victim is also being treated for his injuries. The suspect in this incident was last seen walking towards Campbell Avenue and is described as a black male wearing baggy pants and carrying a black backpack. This incident is currently being investigated by the Lynchburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
