A Rustburg man will spend a decade in prison for the death of his nephew. 42 year old Harold Morris Smith Jr., was charged in the death of 21 year old, Casey Beals who died of an overdose on Jan. 18, 2012. Smith was scheduled for a two-day jury trial to begin Jan. 29, but agreed to a plea agreement on Friday; pleading guilty to two amended charges with the possession charges dropped. He was sentenced for involuntary manslaughter and distribution of a schedule II controlled substance with accommodation. He received 10 years with five years suspended for each charge.
