Meteorologists are warning of potentially dangerous amounts of snow. Accumulation estimates range from five inches to14 inches in some areas; and the heavy snowfall may result in slick roadways and sporadic power outages. Officials with Appalachian Power said the company’s meteorologists are watching weather models and if needed, additional crews will be brought in and employees will be put on-call. The snow will continue Thursday morning before tapering off by the afternoon Thursday. VDOT crews have already begun pre-treating area roads; motorists are encouraged to visit the 511virginia.org website before traveling in a storm. Residents are urged to inform your electric provider of your location in the event of power outage.
