VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) _ Authorities say Virginia Beach police fatally shot two people after one fired a gun at the officers. Virginia Beach police spokeswoman Tonya Borman says the shooting occurred late Saturday night outside a convenience store. Borman said Sunday that a male passenger shot at officers as they approached a vehicle. The officers returned fire, killing the man and the vehicle’s female driver. Borman says the man was a person of interest in a homicide investigation. An infant inside the vehicle wasn’t injured. The infant was placed in the care of Child Protective Services. The officers also weren’t injured. The names of the man and the woman haven’t been released. Borman didn’t know their races, or the officers’ races. The officers have been placed on administrative duty.
