Volunteers are needed to remove tires from the James River on Sept. 13. Tire-Less James, needs people to help pick up tires littered in the river. Volunteers are asked to register through the James River Association’s website to claim self-directed cleanup duties for a particular section of river. Volunteers must supply their own boats and equipment. For those who want to help but do not have a boat fit for hauling tires, the JRA recommends contacting a local outfitter for a rental. Space still is open throughout the river, including stretches from Glasgow to Joshua Falls. For more information, visit www.jamesriverassociation.org.
