BedfordCountyThe Bedford County Board of Supervisors is expected to vote tonight on a request to appropriate money for the purchase of 49 acres next to Liberty High School. The County’s School Board plans to use the land for a new school in the Liberty attendance zone; asking that the funds come from money leftover from the Jefferson Forest High School expansion and renovation project. A legal requirement tied to the former city of Bedford reverting to a town status necessitated the need to build a new middle school to replace an aging Bedford Middle School. The new school could open as soon as 2016.
