Virginia University of Lynchburg launched 11 athletic programs two years ago. But last year, the 127-year-old institution had an all around bad year with financial troubles and the end of numerous athletic programs. Although the school no longer is a member of the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association it can continue offering athletics. On Tuesday, VUL’s President said the school will offer three, possibly four sports programs — football, men’s and women’s basketball and possibly volleyball.
