Officials in the town of Amherst have approved the suspension of the real estate and personal property taxes…but sources say other increases will make up the difference. While the suspension of the rates will equate to a loss of around $110,000 for real estate taxes, personal property taxes and personal property tax relief from the state; The New Era Progress reports, it will be tempered by the increase of water and sewer rates. A recently released budget approval process rate study suggested a raise in utility rates.
