An Amherst County woman faces nearly three dozen charges after authorities removed 19 animals from her property. 61-year-old Gerri Butler is charged with animal neglect and cruelty. The 12 horses, three dogs, three cats and a donkey were removed Friday. Authorities say the Sheriff’s Office and Amherst County Animal Care and Control also are investigating “numerous” county code violations related to trash and unsafe conditions. Butler is scheduled for an advisement hearing May 20 and a trial June 5.
